INTRODUCTION & OUR COMMITMENT TO YOUR PRIVACY
At Akherah, we believe that your relationship with Allah and your daily spiritual habits are sacred. The name Akherah signifies our focus on the Hereafter, and our mission is built upon the Islamic tenets of Amanah (trust) and Sitr (guarding personal dignity and confidentiality).
We recognize the deeply personal nature of your worship records, prayer consistency, missed prayers (Qadha), and nightly spiritual reflections. Our guiding philosophy is simple: Your worship is between you and your Creator. Akherah does not sell your personal data, does not profile you for behavioral marketing, and processes sensitive device features locally on your device wherever possible. To enable free users to keep using the app and fund Ummah Pools, Akherah serves the free users with strictly non-personalized advertisements, ensuring no external entity tracking can analyze or exploit their personal habits.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Akherah collects, how it is handled, why specific Android device permissions are required, and how you retain full control over your data.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW IT IS USED
Account & Identity Information
- Guest / Anonymous Mode: You can use Akherah without creating an account. In Guest Mode, an anonymous unique identifier is generated locally to preserve your worship sessions and offline logs on your device.
- Registered Accounts: If you choose to create an account or link your guest profile for cross-device cloud synchronization and backup, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password managed via cloud authentication infrastructure (We never view or store raw passwords).
- Optional Profile Details: Details provided during onboarding or in Settings (such as name, gender, marital status, or spiritual journey stage) are used exclusively to provide relevant good deed recommendations and customize excused prayer rules based on gender (such as post-natal or menstrual cycle adjustments).
Worship & Spiritual Tracking Data
To provide your personal dashboard, streak tracking, and spiritual accountability, Akherah stores the following data in your private cloud account:
- Salah / Prayer Logs: Records of prayers prayed, missed, or excused, including timestamps and optional valid excuse reasons.
- Streaks & Consistency: Daily streak counters, longest streaks, and streak protection shields.
- Qadha Tracker: Records of past missed prayers, make-up prayer logs, and catch-up planner targets.
- Dhikr & Hasanat Logs: Counts of Dhikr and calculated hasanat tallies.
- Quran Activity: Surahs and ayahs read, reading position bookmarks, preferred reciters, and reading session durations.
- Nightly Reflections: Self-evaluation responses regarding daily spiritual habits.
- Ummah Pools & Ummah Impact: Voluntary Ummah Points contributions, impact milestones, and Ummah points.
Data Isolation & Security: All worship records stored on our cloud infrastructure are protected by strict Row-Level Security (RLS) policies. No other user or third party can access, query, or view your spiritual records.
Financial & In-App Purchase Data
Akherah offers optional premium features through in-app subscriptions. All purchases are processed directly by the respective app marketplaces (Apple App Store In-App Purchase system for iOS users or Google Play Store In-App Billing system for Android users). We utilize RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management platform, to securely validate and process your subscription status across these platforms. No financial, credit card, or bank account details are shared with, stored by, or processed by RevenueCat or Akherah; all payment processing is governed strictly by the respective app store's privacy policy.
SENSITIVE DEVICE PERMISSIONS & LOCAL-FIRST PROCESSING
To ensure full transparency and comply with Google Play Developer Policies regarding sensitive permissions, here is how each permission is used:
Used solely to calculate accurate Islamic prayer times and Qibla direction based on your coordinates. Coordinates are sent via encrypted lines to an open-source external calculation API and are never stored or tracked in the background.
Used only when you enable the “Photo Confirmation Alarm” for Fajr or other prayers. The photo is processed strictly on your device to verify you are awake and is never uploaded to any server.
Uses device-level tools (where supported by your operating system) to temporarily silence selected distractions during active prayer windows. Usage statistics are evaluated entirely on-device and are never recorded or transmitted.
Ensures prayer reminders and the Adhan trigger precisely on time, even during battery sleep or after a device restart.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS
To preserve your digital privacy while sustaining app stability, we partner exclusively with providers configured to respect your data. We utilize services for:
- Secure cloud data hosting and user account infrastructure.
- Transactional billing and subscription token management.
- Reliable delivery of daily prayer notifications and alert triggers.
- External public APIs for astronomical calculation data.
- Digital ad networks explicitly restricted to serving non-personalized contextual ads for free users only, while blocking behavioral user profiling.
DATA RETENTION, EXPORT, AND ACCOUNT DELETION
You retain complete autonomy over your personal information:
Data Retention
We retain your account and worship records only for as long as your account remains active or as needed to maintain your streaks and statistics.
Account & Data Deletion
You have the right to permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time.
- In-App:Navigate to Settings > Delete Account.
- Via Email: Send an email to support@akherah.com with the subject line “Account Deletion Request”.
- Result of Deletion: Your account record in our database is immediately erased. All associated prayer logs, streaks, Qadha history, Dhikr logs, reflection answers, and notification tokens are permanently and irreversibly purged through cascading deletion rules.
DATA SECURITY
We employ industry-standard technical and organizational security measures:
All communications between the Akherah app and our servers are encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security.
All databases and cloud backups are encrypted at rest.
Every query is authenticated and restricted at the database engine level so only you can access your worship data.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Akherah is designed for general audiences seeking to fulfill their daily Islamic prayers. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us at support@akherah.com, and we will promptly delete the data.
REGIONAL PRIVACY RIGHTS (GDPR & CCPA/CPRA)
- European Economic Area (EEA) / UK (GDPR): You have the right to access, rectify, port, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time.
